Baseball Recap: Western Victorious

Western put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Valley Vikings a 17-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.

Adrian Diaz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Edwin Moreno, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Western is undefeated when Moreno posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carlos Cota, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Western's record is now 9-6. As for Valley, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
