Baseball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

Fairfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pleasant Grove Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-9 back in March.

Alhaj Butler was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Fairfield: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jarvis Price, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Pleasant Grove, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-14.

Fairfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pleasant Grove, they will be playing at home against Wenonah at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
