Joliet West scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. The contest between them and the Normal Community Ironmen didn't end well, with the Joliet West Tigers falling 75-58. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Ironmen are ranked 45th).

Joliet West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makayla J Chism, who posted 16 points. J Chism is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Gavin, who put up 12 points.

Joliet West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Normal Community, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-6.

Joliet West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 70-63 defeat against Plainfield South on the 4th. As for Normal Community, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-45 win against Springfield Southeast on the 4th.
