Softball Recap: Sparta Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Sparta's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Zeeland East Chix by a score of 13-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Taliya Dauser looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alaysia Hammock was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Sidlauskas, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Sparta's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Zeeland East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparta will square off against Oakridge at 4:15 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Zeeland East, they will challenge Jenison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
