Volleyball Recap: West Jefferson Roughriders vs. Triad Cardinals
West Jefferson lost against Triad back in August and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Roughriders took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals.
West Jefferson actually scored more points across those four sets (89-87), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-19, 11-25, 26-24.
Julia Beatty paced West Jefferson's offense, picking up 21 kills. Beatty got some help from Mary Ava Wills and her 22 assists. Maddie Carruthers controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Among those leading the charge was Elley Dorn, who had eight digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (six).
West Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Triad, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
Coincidentally, West Jefferson and Triad will both be playing Fairbanks the next time they take the court. The Roughriders will head out to face the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Cardinals will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
