Basketball Recap: Schaeffer Academy Comes Up Short

Schaeffer Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 65-42 to the Houston Hurricanes. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-38 back in December of 2024.

Houston had a senior duo take command as Morgan Rohweder almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds and Carter Geiwitz went 8 of 19 en route to 22 points in addition to six boards and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Geiwitz has scored at least a third of Houston's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Olson, who posted three points and seven assists.

Schaeffer Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Houston, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

Schaeffer Academy will host Spring Grove at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Houston, they will head out on the road to face off against Kingsland at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
