Basketball Recap: Garang Garang's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Covenant School of Jacksonville over Parsons Christian Academy

Covenant School of Jacksonville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. The game between them and the Parsons Christian Academy Lions didn't end well, with the Covenant School of Jacksonville Warriors falling 60-44. The Warriors lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 69-23 score last time.

Covenant School of Jacksonville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garang Garang, who went 7 for 17 en route to 17 points. Cameron Thomas was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Covenant School of Jacksonville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Covenant School of Jacksonville's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Parsons Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing First Coast Christian the next time they take the court. Parsons Christian Academy will head out to face First Coast Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Covenant School of Jacksonville will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
