Basketball Recap: Carver Comes Up Short

Carver has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 26.04 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They were beaten by the Bishop McGuinness Villains 59-17. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Villains are ranked 21st).

It was another big night for Adelaide Jernigan, who went 10-for-18 on her way to 28 points along with eight steals and five assists for Bishop McGuinness. Jernigan is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in each of the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season. Claire Sullivan was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Carver's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Bishop McGuinness, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-2.

As of now, neither Carver nor Bishop McGuinness have any future games scheduled.
