Basketball Recap: West Vigo Takes a Loss

West Vigo lost against Sullivan back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The West Vigo Vikings were outmatched by the Sullivan Golden Arrows and fell 61-28. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while the Golden Arrows are ranked 99th).

Despite the defeat, West Vigo saw an underclassman step up: freshman Camryn Funk posted ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for Funk.

West Vigo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Sullivan, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

West Vigo has already played their next game (against North Putnam), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sullivan will take on North Knox at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sullivan has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
