Softball Game Preview: Pymatuning Valley Lakers vs. Hubbard Eagles

The Pymatuning Valley Lakers will face off against the Hubbard Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Pymatuning Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Maplewood on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 9-8. The Lakers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Hubbard and Poland Seminary, and Poland Seminary kept the tradition alive. The Eagles took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Friday.

Layla Songer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Emalee Warren, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Hubbard's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Pymatuning Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5-1.
