Soccer Recap: Cape Coral Takes a Loss

If Cape Coral was riding high fresh off their 5-0 takedown of Palmetto Ridge last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cape Coral Seahawks came up short against the Aubrey Rogers Patriots on Thursday, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Seahawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Patriots are ranked 82nd).

Cape Coral was without their leading scorer, Sophia Vianest, in Thursday's contest. With Vianest sitting this one out, Payton Jones got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 54.5).

Cape Coral has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10-3 record this season. As for Aubrey Rogers, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Cape Coral nor Aubrey Rogers have any future games scheduled.
