Basketball Recap: Clear Lake Takes a Loss

Clear Lake lost against Deer Park back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Clear Lake Falcons had to suffer through a 64-32 loss at the hands of the Deer Park Deer. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.

Clear Lake's loss came despite strong showings from Carmen Evans and Tory Burrell. Evans posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Burrell put up five points. Evans is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Even though they lost, Clear Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Deer Park found their leader in sophomore Alyssa Harms, who went 6 for 8 on her way to 15 points and three steals. Emily Ripley was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

Clear Lake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-18 record this season. As for Deer Park, the win got them back to even at 15-15.

Clear Lake will square off against Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Deer Park, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Brazoswood at 7:00 p.m. Deer Park is facing Brazoswood at the right time seeing as Brazoswood is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
