Baseball Game Preview: Clover Blue Eagles vs. Hillcrest Rams

The Clover Blue Eagles will take on the Hillcrest Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Clover is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, Clover earned a 6-2 win over Northwestern.

Christian Soder looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on TJ McCluney, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Aiden Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hillcrest came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out J.L. Mann 4-3 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Clover's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Hillcrest, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Clover skirted past Hillcrest 5-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2016. Do the Blue Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
