Volleyball Game Preview: Gloucester Fishermen vs. Swampscott Big Blue

The Gloucester Fishermen will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Swampscott Big Blue at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Gloucester lost 3-0 to KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate on Tuesday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-19, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Swampscott posted their closest victory since November 1, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Salem 3-2.

Swampscott wouldn't go down easily and took Salem into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-18, 26-28, 23-25, 15-11.

Gloucester's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Swampscott, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Gloucester might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Swampscott when the teams last played back in September. Can the Fishermen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
