Baseball Recap: Pensacola Catholic Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Pensacola Catholic posted their closest victory since March 12, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Hillsboro Hawks. This was a revenge game for the Crusaders: when they faced off against the Hawks on Saturday, they had to take a 1-0 defeat.

Caige Bratcher looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Colton Guillot was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Pensacola Catholic's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Carter McCammon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Pensacola Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Hillsboro's loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
