Baseball Game Preview: Lafayette Generals vs. Campbell County Camels

The Lafayette Generals will face off against the Campbell County Camels at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lafayette took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Tates Creek.

Meanwhile, Campbell County came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let the Cougars on the board, marking their second-straight 4-0 shutout.

Campbell County pushed their record up to 21-9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette, their win bumped their record up to 21-13.

Lafayette beat Campbell County 10-5 in their previous meeting back in June of 2021. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Camels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
