Baseball Game Preview: Wellsville Eagles vs. Burlington Wildcats

The Wellsville Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Burlington Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burlington took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wellsville, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Wellsville turned things around against Osage City on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Indians 5-4.

The team relied heavily on Austin Strenth, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Burlington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Iola. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Wellsville's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Burlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Wellsville suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Burlington when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
