League recap: Randolph rises in state rank

2A-2 Region IV District 14 recap September 17, 2013

Randolph scaled the state rankings by moving to 617 from 800 this week, the biggest jump in 2A-2 Region IV District 14. The Ro-Hawks were able to make move up by besting Karnes City 34-14.

Jarrell took down Thrall 61-10 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Schulenburg's dynamic duo of Ross Bludau and Jeffrey Lara proved tough for Shiner to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bludau threw for 312 yards and 3 touchdowns and Lara had 124 yards receiving. Tyler Thompson helped Schulenburg's passing attack out by catching 9 balls for 106 yards.

The Shorthorns' dynamic duo of Bludau and Lara proved to be unstoppable against the Comanches, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Nic Dillon was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 107 yards on 24 carries as Lexington beat Shiner. Berto Lara also contributed to the rushing game with 69 yards on the ground.

Bludau put up the best numbers through the air as Tommy Bludau's team bested Steven Cerny's team.

Lara was the best wideout in the league this week as the Shorthorns defeated the Comanches.

He went 19-22 with 0 interceptions.

Leading 2A-2 Region IV District 14 in both passing and receiving yards, Schulenburg's Bludau and Lara have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Bludau has thrown for 785 yards this season, while Lara has 19 catches for 404 yards. The Eagles' Dillon leads the league in rushing yards with 309.

The Cougars led the league in scoring this week after putting up 61 points on the Tigers.
