Basketball Recap: Southern Takes Down Century in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Southern walked away with it. They secured a 44-38 W over the Century Knights on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Leading Southern to victory were Huntyr Marks and La'Ren Watkins. Marks shot 62% from the field en route to 26 points and three steals, while Watkins posted ten points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Marks is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Southern's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points on average over those games. As for Century, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.

Looking ahead, Southern will take on Poolesville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Century does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
