League recap: Noxapater tops West Lowndes to extend winning streak

Noxapater extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 3 this week by beating West Lowndes, 28-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Pelahatchie took down Ethel 38-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cortez Ousley ran for 122 yards in the win.

Von Smith and Tiberias Lampkin gave West Oktibbeha a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Smith threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns, while Lampkin ran for 256 yards. Smith also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.

Luther Burks was the best wideout in the league this week as Sebastopol lost to the Timberwolves. Burks tallied four receptions for 136 yards. Eric Burkes helped Sebastopol's passing attack out by catching one ball for 46 yards.

West Oktibbeha's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Timberwolves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 973 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Lavante Tate has 17 catches for 477 yards. Lampkin leads the league in rushing with 1118 yards.

A big matchup in 1A Region 3 this week will be when the Panthers take on the Chiefs. West Lowndes is in fourth place, while Pelahatchie is in first place.

Nanih Waiya made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,837 from 11,697. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 34-7 victory over Weir last week.
