Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Central Golden Bears vs. Elwood Panthers

The Monroe Central Golden Bears will face off against the Elwood Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Monroe Central saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 15-5 to Winchester Community. The Golden Bears have struggled against the Golden Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Monroe Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Isaac Middleton was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Elwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They came up short against Whitko, falling 21-7.

Monroe Central now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Elwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-19.

Monroe Central was able to grind out a solid win over Elwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 10-5. Do the Golden Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
