Basketball Recap: Ninety Six Beats Dixie for Their Second Straight Victory

If Dixie wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Ninety Six, they should've done a better job of containing Janiyah Squire. The Ninety Six Wildcats strolled past the Dixie Hornets with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 46-30 thanks in part to Squire, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 19 rebounds. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Stewart, who posted eight points along with six boards and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Dixie lost, don't look at Kerrie O'Shields. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. That was a full 66.7% of Dixie's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

The victory made it two in a row for Ninety Six and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for Dixie, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Ninety Six wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-39 win against Batesburg-Leesville on the 17th. As for Dixie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-11 victory against Thornwell on the 17th.
