Softball Preview: Andrews Yellowjackets vs. Waccamaw Warriors

Andrews is 8-2 against Waccamaw since April of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. Andrews will be strutting in after a victory while Waccamaw will be coming in after a defeat.

Andrews never got on the board in their matchup back in March, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lee Central back in March. They put the hurt on the Stallions with a sharp 24-2 win.

Addyson Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (she also only allowed one walk). Davis was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and a run.

In other batting news, Andrews got a massive performance out of Addison McCants, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Emma Grant was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Waccamaw was not able to break out of their rough patch back in March as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell victim to a tough 13-0 defeat at the hands of Loris.

The victory got Andrews back to even at 1-1. As for Waccamaw, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Andrews came out on top in a nail-biter against Waccamaw when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for Andrews since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
