Soccer Game Preview: Fort Mill vs. Clover

Fort Mill is 1-9 against Clover since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets will host the Blue Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Fort Mill's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Fort Mill will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Catawba Ridge, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Yellow Jackets who were credited with the win on Friday. Fort Mill got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Catawba Ridge's three. The victory was all the more spectacular given Fort Mill's disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Catawba Ridge are ranked eighth).

Last Friday, it was close, but Clover sidestepped Rock Hill for a 3-2 win. The victory continues a trend for Clover in their matchups with Rock Hill: they've now won eight in a row.

Carter Sayle and Augustus Segars scored all three of Clover's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Clover's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Fort Mill, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.
