Basketball Recap: Northview Wins Going Away Against Greencastle

Northview had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Greencastle Tiger Cubs with a sharp 83-61 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brayden Goff was a one-man wrecking crew as he shot 53% from the field on his way to 28 points along with eight assists and six boards. Those 28 points gave him a new career-high. Trayven Buis was another key player, putting up 14 points and five assists.

Northview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Defeat or not, Greencastle got some senior leadership from Connor Sullivan and Sam Gooch. Sullivan went 7-for-13 en route to 18 points, while Gooch posted 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevin Long, who scored ten points.

Greencastle's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Northview and Greencastle will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Knights are set to challenge their familiar foe Sullivan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Greencastle will face off against rival Western Boone at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
