Baseball Recap: Highland Tech Has No Trouble Against Alleghany

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Highland Tech walked away with it. They blew past the Alleghany Trojans 12-2 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Coleman Schafer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Highland Tech is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-12 otherwise. Schafer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brandon Rice and Noah Karr did most of the damage at the plate: Rice got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while Karr went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Highland Tech is 6-1 when Karr posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-13 otherwise. Cooper Hartis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Highland Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Highland Tech's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Alleghany, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-20.

As of now, neither Highland Tech nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
