Baseball Recap: Gray's Creek Wins Going Away Against Seventy-First

Gray's Creek won the last time they faced Seventy-First and things went their way on Friday too. Everything went the Gray's Creek Bears' way against the Seventy-First Falcons as the Gray's Creek Bears made off with a 19-1 victory. The game marked the Bears' most dominant win of the season so far.

Mason Barnes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Gray's Creek: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Barnes was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other pitching news, Blake Fann looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Dalton Williams was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Hulen, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Gray's Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gray's Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. Seventy-First is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
