Softball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

After flying high against Half Moon Bay last Tuesday, Mountain View came back down to earth. Mountain View fell just short of the Homestead Mustangs by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since February 28th.

Allison Marcelino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

Mountain View's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Homestead, their record now sits at 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will venture away from home to face off against Los Altos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View's pitchers better be ready for this one: Los Altos has averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Homestead, they will head out to challenge Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
