Softball Recap: Tri-City Christian Finds Home Field Redemption Against Vista

There's no place like home for Tri-City Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Vista Panthers 21-1 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 9.8 runs per game.

Gigi Villa tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Tri-City Christian let Lilly Halverson and Kaedyn Ybarra run wild. Halverson went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Ybarra scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those five RBI gave Halverson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Erykah Juarez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Tri-City Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .629. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Tri-City Christian now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Vista, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Maranatha Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. Vista will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valley Center at 4:00 p.m. on April 2nd.
