Preview: Newell Irrigators vs. Edgemont Moguls
Newell is on a four-game streak of home losses, Edgemont a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Newell Irrigators will take on the Edgemont Moguls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Newell suffered their biggest loss since December 29, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Philip, falling 61-27. Newell has struggled against Philip recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 47-19, which was the final score in Edgemont's tilt against Hemingford on Saturday. Edgemont was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-8.
Despite the defeat, Edgemont got a solid performance out of Keaton Darrow, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Newell has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Edgemont, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Newell didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Edgemont in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 40-34 victory.
