Basketball Recap: Deer Park Skates Past Brazoswood with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Deer Park's strategy against Brazoswood on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Deer Park Deer blew the Brazoswood Buccaneers out of the water with an 80-14 final score. Given the Deer's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while the Buccaneers are ranked 1265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Deer Park got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shelby Tortorici out in front who posted 16 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Ripley, who earned nine points along with four steals and three blocks.

The win got Deer Park back to even at 12-12. As for Brazoswood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Deer Park will be playing in front of their home fans against Clear Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Deer Park is facing Clear Springs at the right time seeing as Clear Springs is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Brazoswood, they will venture away from home to take on Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clear Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
