Basketball Recap: Harrison County Comes Up Short

Harrison County lost against Campbell County back in March of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Harrison County Thorobreds had to suffer through a 69-36 loss at the hands of the Campbell County Camels. While losing is never fun, the Thorobreds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Camels are ranked 42nd).

Campbell County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garyn Jackson, who made all 8 shots he took racking up 17 points and seven rebounds. Jackson's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Austin Davie was another key player, going 6 of 9 en route to 17 points.

Harrison County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Campbell County, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Harrison County will venture away from home to take on Nicholas County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Campbell County, they will square off against Covington Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Campbell County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.8 points per game this season.
