Softball Recap: South Bend Riley's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

South Bend Riley hadn't done well against South Bend Saint Joseph recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wildcats never let the Huskies get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The Wildcats were shut out 1-0 the last time they took on the Huskies, so the Wildcats were just returning the favor.

The result came thanks to ELLIANA GONZALES's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, RACHEL HUNT was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was CHLOE WHITMER, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

South Bend Riley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

South Bend Riley's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

South Bend Riley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
