Baseball Recap: Howland Has No Trouble Against Struthers

Howland came out on top against Struthers on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Bode Biggin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Biggin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Howland's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

In other pitching news, Steven Bubon looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Dominic Santee was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Howland is 4-1 when Santee posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luca Fronzaglio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Howland and bumps their season record up to 5-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Struthers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Howland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-0 victory against Wilmington on the 23rd. As for Struthers, they have also already played their next game, a 9-6 win against East Palestine on the 23rd.
