Preview: Lathrop Spartans vs. Sonora Wildcats
The Lathrop Spartans will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Sonora Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on December 11th. Hopefully Lathrop focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday.
Last Monday, everything came up roses for Lathrop on the road against Linden as the squad secured a 79-47 victory.
Among those leading the charge was Reniel Crisostomo, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Ramos, who scored 7 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Sonora pushed their score all the way to 67 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to Gregori. Even though they lost, Sonora's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51.5 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jack Sarina, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Wright, who scored 14 points along with 5 assists.
The losses dropped Lathrop to 2-4 and Linden to 0-2.
Things could have been worse for Lathrop, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 80-62 loss to Sonora when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Thankfully for Lathrop, Austin Patterson (who scored 34 points along with 8 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
