Softball Recap: Eagleton College & Career Academy Triumphs

Eagleton College & Career Academy was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Tellico Plains Bears. For the Royals, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Kyla Long spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Karleigh Baker was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Jatelynn Tinnel also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Eagleton College & Career Academy's record is now 4-2.

Looking ahead, Eagleton College & Career Academy will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Wartburg Central at 6:00 p.m. Eagleton College & Career Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Tellico Plains, they are taking a road trip to take on Murphy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
