Basketball Recap: Benton Central's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After flying high against Faith Christian last Friday, Benton Central came back down to earth. The Benton Central Bison took a hard 44-28 fall against the McCutcheon Mavericks on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Mavericks are ranked 15th).

McCutcheon found their leader in sophomore Lillie Graves, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 17 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ameria Gibson, who posted eight points and four steals.

With the defeat, Benton Central broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6. As for McCutcheon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benton Central will face off against Lafayette Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McCutcheon, they will square off against Parke Heritage at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. McCutcheon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.
