Basketball Game Preview: Smithsburg Leopards vs. Williamsport Wildcats

The Smithsburg Leopards will face off against the Williamsport Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Smithsburg had to suffer through a 62-20 loss at the hands of North Hagerstown. The Leopards haven't had much luck with the Hubs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, everything went Williamsport's way against Francis Scott Key on Tuesday as Williamsport made off with a 73-47 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Williamsport's win came from a few key players Smithsburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jahmeir Byrd, who went 11 of 19 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. Those 23 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ceonta Wilmore, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Smithsburg's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-2. As for Williamsport, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Smithsburg beat Williamsport 64-54 when the teams last played back in January. Will Smithsburg repeat their success, or does Williamsport have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
