Softball Recap: York Wins Going Away Against Sycamore

York gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on the Sycamore Spartans with a sharp 7-1 victory. This was a revenge game for the Dukes: when they faced off against the Spartans on Saturday, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

Sophia Lanciloti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, Maggie Demopoulos was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily McNichols, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

York's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-10. As for Sycamore, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 23-4-1 record.

Coming up, York will square off against Oak Park-River Forest at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Dukes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Sycamore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last eight games the Pirates have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
