Preview: Boerne Greyhounds vs. Wimberley Texans
Boerne is 10-0 against Wimberley since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Boerne Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the Wimberley Texans at 6:30 p.m. Boerne is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Boerne put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 58-34 margin over Bandera. Given Boerne's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Bandera is ranked 720th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Casen Hoegemeyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Hank Hendrix was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Wimberley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-47 loss to Bandera on Tuesday. Wimberley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Boerne is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. As for Wimberley, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.
Boerne was able to grind out a solid victory over Wimberley in their previous meeting on January 2nd, winning 47-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boerne since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
