Basketball Game Preview: Elkin Buckin' Elks vs. Starmount Rams

Elkin hasn't had much luck against Starmount recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Elkin Buckin' Elks will face off against the Starmount Rams at 7:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Elkin is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 16, 2024 back in December of 2024. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting North Wilkes an easy 63-40 victory. The game marked the Buckin' Elks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Starmount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. The match between them and Mount Airy didn't end well, with Starmount falling 74-57.

Starmount's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Elkin, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Elkin came up short against Starmount in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 56-44. Can Elkin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
