Baseball Recap: Tulia Extends Winning Streak to Three

Tulia waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over the Sundown Roughnecks. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.

David Abeyta made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Gustavo Trevino was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Zach Trevino was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Tulia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tulia's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Sundown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Tulia has already played their next contest (against Non Varsity Opponent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Sundown, they will challenge Muleshoe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
