Basketball Recap: Chassell Takes a Loss

Chassell lost against Dollar Bay back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Chassell Panthers were dealt an 87-46 defeat at the hands of the Dollar Bay Bays. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 677th, while the Bays are ranked 204th).

Dollar Bay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Baron Colbert led the charge by going 10 for 15 en route to 22 points. The dominant performance also gave Colbert a new career-high in assists (three). Jackson Vondoloski was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Chassell has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Dollar Bay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chassell has already played their next contest (against Lake Linden-Hubbell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dollar Bay will venture away from home to challenge L'Anse at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Dollar Bay is facing L'Anse at the right time seeing as L'Anse is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
