Softball Recap: Viewmont Drops Highest Score of Season Against Woods Cross

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Viewmont). They were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Woods Cross Wildcats on Tuesday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

London Dickerson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Dickerson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Ricki Smith was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Karli Dickerson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Viewmont lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Viewmont's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for Woods Cross, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Coming up, Viewmont will be playing at home against Davis at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Woods Cross, they will take on Northridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northridge has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something Woods Cross will no doubt try to take advantage of.
