Basketball Game Preview: Yulee Hornets vs. Ridgeview Panthers

The Yulee Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Ridgeview Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Yulee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season.

Last Monday, Yulee didn't have too much trouble with Middleburg as they won 77-63.

Yulee found their leader in sophomore Chase Cannone, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Newby, who posted 12 points.

Yulee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Ridgeview fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They were the clear victor by a 63-43 margin over Keystone Heights on Monday.

Ridgeview's win came from a few key players Yulee will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Justyn Cappas, who put up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Treyvon Morene, who posted 14 points.

Yulee is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Ridgeview, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.

Everything went Yulee's way against Ridgeview when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Yulee made off with a 69-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yulee since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
