The StoneBridge Cavaliers will venture away from home to take on the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greenbrier Christian Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on StoneBridge, who comes in off a win.
StoneBridge let Broadwater Academy stack five runs on them in the second inning on Tuesday but luckily StoneBridge prevailed anyway. The Cavaliers walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Vikings. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.
StoneBridge let Tyler Thompson and Bryce Walton run wild. Thompson went 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Walton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base was Thompson's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Blake Walton, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Greenbrier Christian Academy faced Atlantic Shores Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Gators fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 9-8. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hayden Dunlow was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.
At the plate, Thomas Conrad made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alijah Trone, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
StoneBridge's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 19-3.
StoneBridge might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Greenbrier Christian Academy when the teams last played on April 8th. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
