Basketball Recap: Cheyenne Wells Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Gabriel Zamarippa and Corey Hill

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cheyenne Wells can now relate to. They took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stratton Eagles on Saturday. The Tigers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Cheyenne Wells' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Corey Hill, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 18 boards, and Gabriel Zamarippa, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 13 points. Hill is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 53 games he's played dating back to last season.

Von Isenbart was his usual excellent self, going 7-for-15 en route to 22 points and eight boards for Stratton. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Ruhs, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Cheyenne Wells' loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Stratton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Cheyenne Wells nor Stratton have any future games scheduled.
