Baseball Recap: Merritt Island Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Merritt Island couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Belen Jesuit Wolverines by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolverines earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Merritt Island saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Brandes, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Merritt Island's loss dropped their record down to 24-8. As for Belen Jesuit, the victory got them back to even at 16-16.

Merritt Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Belen Jesuit, they will head out on the road to square off against American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight.
