Baseball Game Preview: Southwest Guilford Cowboys vs. Grimsley Whirlies

The Southwest Guilford Cowboys will face off against the Grimsley Whirlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Southwest Guilford 2.5, Grimsley 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Southwest Guilford's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when East Forsyth hitters got past them. The Cowboys came up short against the Eagles on Wednesday, falling 13-2. The Cowboys' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Southwest Guilford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Graham Sutherland, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Grimsley narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past West Forsyth 5-3.

Sebastian Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another was Max Snyder, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Grimsley lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Grimsley's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.
