Basketball Recap: Damani White Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

West Ashley picked up another tournament win on Friday. They came out on top against the Loudoun Valley Vikings by a score of 65-57. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 32nd in South Carolina, while the Vikings are ranked 142nd in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Ashley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damani White, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 16 points and three steals. White is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendell Mack, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

West Ashley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Loudoun Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

West Ashley and Spring-Ford will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. West Ashley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season. As for Loudoun Valley, they will have a chance to turn things around after yesterday's loss Augusta Christian at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday after yesterday's loss. One thing working in Augusta Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
